Internacional 3 x 0 Nacional (URU)

Fabinho-Makelele, Perdigão-Essien, Tinga-Lampard, Iarley-Joe Cole, Michel-Robben, Fernandão-Crespo. Quem dera...

O Inter do jogo contra o Nacional, no 4-5-1

Boas jogadas do Colorado

Eu tiraria Fabinho, que destoa negativamente do time. Graças a ele, ataques onde haviam 3 do Nacional contra 6 do Inter eram, pasme, perigosos.

A massa

Meio reclamões esses torcedores do Inter.

O time titular seria: Clemer, Ceará, Fabiano Eller, Bolívar, Jorge Wagner; Perdigão, Tinga, Adriano, Mossoró; Sóbis e Fernandão.

Clemer - nada precisou fazer. 6
Ceará - bom no apoio, surpreendentemente bem na cobertura. 7,5
Perdigão - pura raça, jogador necessário. Ontem, vários carrinhos essenciais. 7
Tinga - o dono do time.
Fernandão - junto com Tinga e Eller, forma a espinha dorsal do time.

Things that money can't buy

Another brilliant excerpt from The Guardian. Fittingly illustrated by a picture of myself at the Anfield Road Stand, with The Kop at the background.

From the Paul Wilson column
Source: http://football.guardian.co.uk/Columnists/Column/0,,1707825,00.html

Abramovich pleas shouted down in parish of Shankly
Roman Abramovich must have a sense of humour after all. How can a man who permits himself only one facial expression per game lecture anyone about being more demonstrative in their support?

If Abramovich wants Chelsea fans to feel more like singing, how about dropping admission prices for next season instead of putting them up? How about knocking down that tat at the Fulham Road end so the sun can get to the beach? Sorry, pitch. If Chelsea attracted more away fans the home supporters would actually have someone to sing at. But, if they want to be blown away by an atmosphere like Anfield's, that memorable night last May when the Chelsea directors confessed the noise inside the ground was 'almost frightening', the bad news is that even in football there are some things money just can't buy.

Liverpool and their extremely vocal support go back a long way, and if the passion generated on the terraces last season in any way helped the team to their unlikely triumph in Istanbul it was a fair reward for the club's commitment to their working-class fanbase over the years. Like Manchester United, who also recognise that many loyal supporters have limited means and other expenses to meet, Liverpool have steadfastly refused to take the mickey with ticket prices. When you have been put on the map by someone from Scottish mining stock this sort of collectivism comes naturally enough.

It is less clear what guides a club put on the map by a preposterously young Russian oil billionaire. Chelsea can be most things with Abramovich's money, but they can never be Liverpool. And they will never be popular either if they really want John Obi Mikel and Freddy Adu, or if they continue to irritate real talent scouts by snapping up the best two or three players at junior tournaments before farming them out across Europe on loan. People can cope with the richest club in the Premiership, managers are willing to take on the challenge of competing with the strongest team, but it is beginning to be whispered, with more than a trace of resentment, that Chelsea are using their money to sign players they don't need just so no one else can have them.

Bill Shankly - 'The socialism I believe in is not really politics; it is humanity, a way of living and sharing the rewards' - would not have approved.

Ele viveu

Ah e recomendo fortemente www.viniciusdemoraes.com.br.

About a girl

No meu iTunes, das 25 músicas mais tocadas, seis são desse álbum, seis do A Rush Of Blood To The Head do Coldplay e outras seis do Gilles Peterson in Brazil.

Ah. Consertei o negócio de comentários na página. Antes só membros do Blogger podiam comentar. Agora pode qualquer um.

Tô me guardando pra quando o Carnaval chegar

It's the environment, stupid

Here comes a link to a nice essay published by The Guardian this week. Although I disagree on some of the ideas put forward by the author, it is a good reminder of the impending energy crisis the world will face.

It makes me think that I am 26, but when I'm 40 I'll probably be paying 10 dollars a liter of gasoline. And that when I'm 64 I wouldn't "be happy mending a fuse" liek in the Beatles song; I'd be trying to understand how to get energy for my living, just like beduins hunt for improbable sources of water and food. Or like Mad Max.

Anyway, my major disagreement with the author is that I am still a believer in capitalism as a system, and that's in spite of my acknowledgement of its many flaws (such as the frenzy quest for shareholder value no matter what), mostly because I think socialism would never work. I think it is against human nature. Socialism would work if people had no ambition. And we all know it is not true. Even among Japanese people you find ambitious fellows - enough to disrupt a purely socialist system.

Let it be said I am not particularly against centrally planned economies (now that I mentioned Japan...) but more to the forced equality that gives exactly the same amount of food and land to everyone. Theoretically I think people should be given capital in proportion to their willingness to work - so entrepreneurs and workaholics would have a benefit over bums - but everyone should have a CHOICE of being a workaholic or a bum. Or, most likely, (and healthier for all) become something in between.

Ok, that was a major digression, but as you may as well know that is my style. So finally here comes the link, it is a great essay, enjoy.

It's capitalism or a habitable planet - you can't have both
Our economic system is unsustainable by its very nature. The only response to climate chaos and peak oil is major social change

I miss u people

So for my first English post I decided to put some pictures of people I particularly miss. All pics taken at the Insead graduation party in Versailles, December 2005, by my friend Nicolás.

Above's Andrea "minchia-bello-you-know-the-way-forward" Macario and Michelle "let's-pretend-we're-bunny-rabbits" Koh-Potts with me. I so miss you two. Macca I'll see you in our annual Estonia trip, and with Michelle I catch up in one of her blogs.

Now my two most amusing pen pals, Tomas "I-can't-say-that-I-love-Jesus-that-would-be-a-hollow-claim" Hatem and Emily "You-know-I've-been-around-the-block-in-South-London" Kerr. Well, it may be a long time till I visit you guys in London but the writing surely makes up for it.

Enough for today. Miss you all. Cheers.

Song of the Week

"As"
Stevie Wonder

As around the sun the earth knows she's revolving
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early May
Just as hate knows love's the cure
You can rest your mind assure
That I'll be loving you always

As now can't reveal the mistery of tomorrow
But in passing will grow older every day
Just as all is born is new
Do you know what I say is true
That I'll be loving you always

Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky
ALWAYS
Until the ocean covers every mountain high
ALWAYS
Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea
ALWAYS
Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream

Did you know that true love asks for nothing
Her acceptance is the way we pay
Did you know that life has given love a guarantee
To last through forever and another day

Just as time knew to move on since the beginning
And the seasons know exactly when to change
Just as kindness knows no shame
Know through all your joy and pain
That I'll be loving you always

As today I know I'm living but tomorrow
Could make me the past but that I mustn't fear
For I'll know deep in my mind
The love of me I've left behind
Cause I'll be loving you always

Until the day is night and night becomes the day
ALWAYS
Until the trees and sea just up and fly away
ALWAYS
Until the day that 8x8x8 is 4
ALWAYS
Until the day that is the day that are no more

(Did you know you're loved by somebody?)
Until the day the earth starts turning right to left
ALWAYS
Until the earth just for the sun denies itself
(I'll be loving you forever)
Until dear Mother Nature says her work is through
ALWAYS
Until the day that you are me and I am you
Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky
Until the ocean covers every mountain high

We all know sometimes life's hates and troubles
Can make you wish you were born in another time and space
But you can bet your life times that and twice its double
That God knew exactly where he wanted you to be placed
So make sure when you say you're in it but not of it
You're not helping to make this earth a place sometimes called Hell
Change your words into truths and then change that truth into love
And maybe our children's grandchildren
And their great-great grandchildren will tell
I'll be loving you

Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky...
